Dinosaur Fun for the Little Ones
Dinokids is a virtual world that caters to children and features cute dinosaur characters that can go on quests as well as play games.  There are two versions of the game — one that has parental permission and one that does not. Alek (my almost five-year-old) and I opted to try to full-version where you can use emoticons, chat, shopping capabilities and more.

For Moms
One of the nice things about this site is that if your child does not have parental permission, they are limited to 30 minutes a day of playtime, chat is unavailable and so is the “shopping” function. You can also limit the playtime and chat access even after authorizing your child - which is nice because I know my son will go on for ages if he can get away with it. Our mission was to “clean up,” which we did and after a bit of looking around the different boards he was ready to move on to something else.

Other Thoughts…
Overall, it is a cute site that is still under construction and has a ways to go. I think it will appeal to younger kids whose parents want them to have a safe environment to go online where they can interact with their friends. We were not able to fully appreciate the full capabilities in the demo site, which is why I think my son got a little bored with it. The site is still in the demo phase, and will hopefully be available to everyone soon.

Quick Facts
*Still in demo mode
* Easy to use
* Free
* Great Parental Controls
*Safe virtual environment
