Treetures, a woodsy world for nature-loving kids
Treetures
Treetures represent an environmental education effort with a direct focus on trees. They are a community of whimsical characters designed to teach your children about the wonders of nature, growing things, forests and woods, and of course, keeping all these wonders safe in our real world.
This is a virtual world designed to teach preschoolers thru Grade 3 kids about trees and tree science. Most of the site is designed around a whole bunch of imaginary creatures called ‘treetures’ and is supported big-time and with lots of enthusiasm by some very impressive organizations….read on!
For Moms
There is a lot of very rich graphic content and while there are game-like activities for kids–animations, coloring projects–this is not a game site, it is very much a wonderful place to learn.
Warning: This site is reading-intensive so some younger kids may need a little ‘mom’ assistance which is not necessarily a bad thing…moms love trees, too!
For Teachers
There are a number of lesson plans that work just as well in the classroom as on the kitchen table or home computer and are just as much fun.
What does Treetures cost?
Right now the virtual world is free to use.
It also offers a selection of books and sticker books for sale
There are even plush toys to buy
Treetures has some very impressive supporters
The site is supported by the U.S. Forest Service, The America the Beautiful Fund, Trees America, and the United Nations Plant for the Planet Campaign
How many ‘Clicks’ does this world get?
