Miss Bimbo: Lots of buzz, lots of controversy
Miss Bimbo
“The world’s first virtual fashion game ! Become the most famous and beautiful bimbo in the world.” That’s according to the site..the media and consumer outcry is something else again. So here is one of the more controversial virtual world sites.
Attack of the digital bimbos
As if girls weren’t already accosted by over-sexualized toys, advertising, and media; two young men from the UK (plus a token girl) bring us Miss Bimbo–
where the goal for girls is to become “Queen of the Bimbos.”
Just a fashion game?
Billed as a ‘virtual fashion game,’ Miss Bimbo is less about fashion and more about emulating the lifestyle of media-created celebs like Paris Hilton. Players can purchase diet pills, face lifts, and even breast implants. There’s more. Girls are also encouraged to land a sugar daddy boyfriend.
Mom alert! Mom alert! Mom alert!
The basics
While registration is free text messages cost $3 and there are PayPal charges to boost lagging bimbo bank account
Forums are available to young girls without any registration required
There is no evidence of parental controls on the site
Forums contain “R” themes such as the age of first sexual encounter and the number of sexual partners.
The values
Bottom line this “game” seems to promote eating disorders, distorted body images, gold digging, and uber-materialism.
What got ‘fixed’
After the recent spate of outrage reported in the media, the site put in some updates in an attempt to mollify detractors and the home page now invites girls to “become the hottest, coolest, most intelligent, and talented bimbo the world has ever known!”
