Kid-Friendly Browsers: making the worlds of the web safer
Today we review four browsers that are helping make the web a safer place for kids under the age of 12 and relieving  anxious moms who worry about their kids safety online.

GLUBBLE
This is a family-friendly, kid-safe web browser. The family plug-in offers parents a more personalized protection and control over 2,500 pre-approved sites for their kids. This is a multi-family type browser and allows family and exetended family members to link together and join in live browsing sessions…a very cool networking and connection idea for families
who live far apart.

Protection:

  • This is a closed browser. Search and chat available only with family members
  • No access to other parts of the computer without a password
  • Parents are prompted for approval and access
  • Moms can edit the list of available sites and add or delete at their own discretion
  • Results from search engines are also filtered here

Free FireFox plug-in.

What’s it got?

This browser includes all major popular fun and learning sites including Disney, Barbie, Nikolodeon, Scholastic, Cartoon Network and thousands more.

The ‘Spiffy’

  • Encourages family sharing and interaction with activitie calendars and photo albums
  • Family can keep in touch on separate computers through live messaging (great for grandparents)
  • Moms can take charge of the Internet for their kids
  • Favorites, pictures and new sites that are family-friends can be added with a click

Our reviewer reports that the download interfered a bit with some of the settings on her own computer.

KidRocket
This is a non-invasive stand-alone browser which offers
a selection of top quality kid-friendly websites.

Protection
This browser blocks the entire Internet–once in lock-mode it can’t be minimized or closed.
Mom controls allow the blocking of printing out sites and blocking email.
You also need to know that the pre-selected sites are not removable or customizable.
A pop-up blocker is included
The browser is 100% adware and spyware free
